In my own quest for more personal fulfillment and happiness I stumbled across lots of books, memoirs and blogs offering all sorts of advice for creating a better life.

Popular ideas included minimalism, four-hour work weeks, an unending stream of 30 day diets, tiny houses, and my personal favorite - selling it all to travel the world.  That's great if you are free from any family responsibilities. Which I wasn't.

Instead I was an almost-40-year-old-single-mom who lived on one income and carried the health insurance for her family.  As much as I loved Eat.Pray.Love, I wasn't headed to Italy or India anytime soon. 

I needed my day job. I loved my old farmhouse and had no wish to sell it to travel the world. I liked the idea of decluttering, but I didn't want to give all my shit away.

I like my shit. I wanted to be healthier, but at the same I was sick as fuck of trying to diet my way back to my high school fighting weight. 


What I wanted most was to be happier.

Trendy lifestyle changes like downsizing to a tiny house or taking up homesteading to find happiness were not practical for me or my family.

My four kids were in middle and high school; it was hardly fair to them to decide that we were trading in our quiet life in Maine to travel the world and live out of my Ford Fusion for a year or two.  No, what I wanted was very simple; I wanted to be happy NOW.   

In my current life. In my current body. With my current bank account and current job.


I was tired of delaying happiness until life was perfect.

I wanted to really love my life. I was tired of waiting until I dropped 20 pounds, or got that raise at work, or bought my dream car to allow myself to be happy.  



And so, I started on quest to find more happiness in my life.

First, I got real clear on what that happiness actually looked like for me. Once I had a clear vision of my best life, I set happiness goals and started formulating a plan to make them happen.

Along the way I discovered that I was NOT alone. There are LOTS of busy working moms (and women in general) who long for more in life, but have no idea how to make it happen. Or they don't think they have the time, resources, talent, create a life they love. 


I Call Bullshit 

I'm here to call bullshit on the excuses we tell ourselves. No one is going to give you permission to live your best life. No one is going to give you permission to be great/awesome/fabulous.  

If you want a better life you have to be willing to get out of your comfort zone and make some changes. You also have to get clear on what you want and why you want it.

This means going deeper than "I want to win the lottery" or "I want a bikini body." That's just lazy thinking, ladies. Why do you want those things? What do they represent to you?  


Once I got clear on what it was I really wanted and how I wanted to feel in my life - versus the stuff I wanted to have - things got a whole lot better. 

I created The BOM as a reminder for all my ladies that you deserve an awesome life, filled with purpose, passion and abundance. No more delaying happiness til later. No more wishing things could be different.  Happiness is already yours, you just need to know where to look. And I'm here to help you!
